Polyurethane Lining

Polyurethane lining is a high-tech method of protecting industrial equipment from abrasive, impact, erosive and hydroabrasive wear.

Polyurethane liners create an elastic, high-strength protective layer that effectively absorbs impact loads, reduces contact stresses and significantly increases the service life of equipment even in the most demanding production conditions. TIMOL R&D Production LLC provides lining for conveying, gravity-flow, elevator, mining and ore-processing, agricultural and process equipment using modern polyurethane systems of our own production. When manufacturing liners, we take into account the nature of the abrasive, the speed of material flow, the magnitude of impact loads, the operating temperature, the humidity of the environment, the chemical composition of the material and the geometry of the assembly.

Lining technology. Lining is the process of applying or fitting a polyurethane layer onto the metal surface of a part. Depending on the product design, the following are used: hot casting of polyurethane directly onto the metal base; bonding of ready-made polyurethane sheets with special high-strength adhesives; mechanical fastening of lining elements; combined fastening technologies for equipment subject to increased loads.

Before the polyurethane is applied, the metal undergoes comprehensive preparation: shot blasting or sandblasting, degreasing, and application of special primers and adhesion systems. This technology ensures a high-strength bond between the polyurethane and the metal and prevents delamination of the coating even under cyclic impact loads.

Technical advantages of polyurethane lining. Polyurethane offers a range of physical and mechanical properties that significantly surpass traditional rubber coatings: high resistance to abrasive wear; material hardness over a wide range (approximately 50-98 Shore A depending on operating conditions); high tensile and tear strength; a low abrasion coefficient; effective absorption of impact energy; high elasticity under repeated load cycles; resistance to oils, lubricants, fuel and most industrial chemical environments; corrosion resistance; a substantial reduction in noise and vibration; and reduced sticking of bulk materials thanks to its low friction coefficient.

Correctly selected polyurethane hardness makes it possible to optimize the balance between impact strength and wear resistance, which is especially important for equipment that conveys quartz sand, crushed stone, cement, grain, ore, mineral fertilizers and other abrasive materials.

Areas of application. Polyurethane lining can be applied to: bins; receiving hoppers; chutes; gravity-flow channels; cyclones; hydrocyclones; drums; screw conveyors; shafts; conveying trays; elevator equipment; grain conduits; transfer points; process equipment housings; and parts of crushing and screening complexes.

For each product, the specialists of TIMOL R&D Production LLC carry out an engineering analysis of the equipment's operating conditions, determining the nature of the loads, the speed of material movement, the type of abrasive, the liner thickness, the optimal polyurethane hardness and the fastening method. This makes it possible to maximize the equipment's service interval between repairs, minimize production downtime and substantially reduce operating costs.
