# Polyurethane Lining for Conveyor Rollers

Polyurethane has long been used to protect mechanisms from external damage. During World War II, it was used to cover certain parts of aircraft. This process is known as lining (from the German word 'futter' meaning lining).

Today, this method helps to update equipment, restore damaged parts, and more. For example, [polyurethane lining](https://www.timol.com.ua/futerovka-valov) of conveyor rollers can ensure smooth operation, reduce noise in production, and significantly extend the service life.

## Advantages of Polyurethane Lining

Belt conveyors are used in various industrial enterprises. Their important component is the roller supports. Intense work quickly wears out their coating. Here arises the dilemma: halt production, order a new part, spend time on installation, or opt for PU lining.

The process allows for the restoration of damaged conveyor rollers and extends their lifespan. It is cost-effective since there is no need to spend on new parts. The lining is significantly cheaper and offers more benefits.

Polyurethane has numerous positive properties:

- It can be used outdoors and indoors without losing its original quality;
- It withstands any load, even extremely heavy ones;
- It can deform under pressure but quickly returns to its original shape;
- It does not become brittle under prolonged sun exposure and does not lose color or develop white spots;
- It performs well in any temperature regime. Parts will function reliably at very low temperatures: -20°C. It will not fail if the temperature rises to +80°C;
- It interacts well with aggressive environments. Technical oils, gasoline, acids, and saltwater cannot cause harm.

Polyurethane is not affected by mold and fungi. Products are not prone to corrosion: no rusty spots or streaks. Small debris, dust, and dirt do not stick to the blocks. Maintaining the mechanism in working condition does not require significant physical effort.

### How Polyurethane Lining is Done

Lining can be performed in various ways. The choice depends on the production and type of equipment. We recommend using polyurethane rings. This method allows for quick resumption of work, and the repair does not take much time. Simply slip the ready-made ring onto the conveyor roller.

### The Importance of Hardness

Polyurethanes differ in hardness. It is determined by the globally recognized Shore method. The most affordable material has a hardness of 95A. It withstands fairly large loads. Compared to others, it is more prone to wear. Premium material is considered to have a hardness of 92A. If the rollers are under constant heavy pressure, it is better to choose PU with a hardness of 70D.

By lining conveyor rollers with polyurethane, you will significantly reduce vibrations, thereby slowing down equipment wear.
