# Polyurethane: GOST or TU

Polyurethane is a material with a multitude of unique properties. Compared to rubber and metal, it offers a significantly longer lifespan. Synthetic elastomers are often referred to as "eternal rubber."

## Which GOST standards does polyurethane comply with?

There are several types of polyurethane, differing in composition. The composition determines the properties of each elastomer type according to the material's GOST. The main differences among existing types are based on the following parameters:

- application area;
- degree of hardness;
- working temperature range.

Synthetic elastomers have virtually unlimited possibilities. The presence of certain components in the composition allows for materials of various consistencies: rigid, elastic, liquid, solid, loose, and others. This feature allows polyurethane to be used in almost all fields of activity.

## Polyurethane: GOST or TU. Interstate Quality Standard for Polyurethane - Timol

GOST-14896 polyurethane is a high-strength material capable of maintaining its initial characteristics under harsh operating conditions. It has delayed aging, making it durable. Among the main advantages of the material are:

1. a wide working temperature range (from -60 to +150);
2. the ability to operate under high pressure;
3. chemical resistance with high elasticity;
4. low level of abrasive wear (with low density and weight);
5. tear resistance;
6. resistance to heavy loads (GOST-22704);
7. environmental cleanliness;
8. ability to retain its original shape.

Sheet polyurethane GOST-14896 84 is mainly used for manufacturing general-purpose products. This polymer solves a vast range of tasks in various fields. Due to its elasticity, it can be used in combination with moving structures. The material interacts easily with various technical oils, solvents, and combustible mixtures. Even the thinnest sheets have minimal wear.

## Application of Polyurethanes Depending on the Grade

Polyurethane is manufactured under different grades, which differ in application area, operational temperature range, and hardness:

- SKU PFL-100. This grade can withstand high stable and variable loads. It works effectively under severe abrasive wear and constant moisture exposure. Products can be used at very low temperatures. This grade is one of the most popular due to its versatility, high resistance to fluctuating loads, and ability to contact food components. SKU PFL-100 polymers are often used as fasteners for various joints.
- SKU-6. Polymers of this grade are characterized by elasticity, strength, and long-lasting performance under increased wear. Overall, the properties of products under this grade are almost the same as those of PFL-100.
- SKU-7L. Used for manufacturing parts intended for wear-intensive applications. The material is resistant to oil and its derivatives, making it suitable for seals constantly in an oil environment. Parts made from SKU-7L elastomers are designed for use in high-temperature conditions (from +10 to +80).
